Group Leader, Mark Wakelam, based in Frazer-Nash’s Adelaide office, has been awarded Fellowship by Engineers Australia, the professional body for the advancement of engineering within Australia.
Engineers Australia Fellowship awards recognise leaders of their profession and their significant contribution to engineering projects over their career.
Mark, who joined Frazer Nash as a Senior Engineer in 2000, was presented with his award at a ceremony in August.
Mark says:
“Variety has been the key to the experiences and knowledge that I have picked up during my engineering career. From the aerospace apprenticeship that I started with, to several years at university, to the reverse engineering of prototype cars – all of which before I joined Frazer-Nash, which continued the theme of variety. Each has kept it interesting.
“The nice thing is that you’re not alone on this journey. The clients, colleagues, and friends that you meet along the way, who are also passionate about engineering, adds an extra dimension and feeling of combined purpose, to do something cool, that will make a difference.”
Mark is the latest Frazer-Nash employee to be awarded Fellowship in Australia, following Caroline Ellis, who received recognition for her achievements in June this year.
Congratulating Mark on his achievement, Head of Frazer-Nash’s Australian Business, Jonathan Armstrong, said:
“Achieving Fellowship is an amazing accomplishment, recognising very significant contribution to the engineering profession – and, because engineers do fundamentally useful stuff, to society at large. Mark thoroughly deserves this recognition, having made a big difference in the UK, US, and Australia. He has had great career journey, with his apprenticeship and PhD giving him a rare combination of practical and theoretical experience which he has used to solve all sorts of problems.
