Client
RWE Renewables
Overview
Due to the short timescales on a development project, our client required an experienced electrical engineer to support ongoing site-based commissioning activities at an onshore wind farm. The role involved providing quality assurance by monitoring the site electrical activities; together with provision of electrical, control and protection system support to commissioning engineers for a period covering four months.
Our work
Our flexibility allowed us to immediately deploy to support on-site electrical commissioning activities, and our experienced engineer quickly settled into the role as site electrical engineer, supporting activities including:
Monitoring the electrical activities and ensuring health and safety compliance
Review of documentation, including drawings, commissioning and testing plans, risk assessments and method statements for electrical activities
Co-ordination of contractors and liaison with the Principal Contractor to ensure all requirements for the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) were satisfied
Review of quality control on site for electrical activities
Commissioning activities, such as installation, testing and fault finding, including small wiring modifications
Witness of testing functional systems and signing of successful test procedures prior to energisation.
Impact
Our ability to provide an engineer with the correct experience at short notice enabled our client to maintain its ongoing commissioning operations without costly delays. Our engineer was able to immediately step into the role of site engineer, offering tailored and flexible support to the client as required.
